I Corinthians 15:47-49

"The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven."

Synopsis of Rediscovering the Kingdom

(Post 15 of the current book selection “Rediscovering the Kingdom” by Myles Monroe)

The answers to all of our questions in life lie in understanding the nature of God.

He is a Creator.

He is a Ruler. Whatever a creator creates, he is the ruler or king of that creation.

He is Love. Love gives and shares of itself.  So, he created man to share and give of his nature; including His rulership of a kingdom.  Since He was already ruler of the invisible realm, He created the physical realm for man to rule by expressing His nature and characteristics.

This sharing and expressing is the craving of mankind; for this is why he was created.

This setup established man as the only legal authority on Earth to act on God’s behalf.  This is why redemption had to come through a human.  God only does things in the physical realm with the cooperation of humans. This authority that man has is to be over all things in the physical realm (except other humans).

But, in an act of treason, the first man defected from God’s Kingdom by choosing his own will rather than the Kings.  This is a no-no in a kingdom.  You don’t violate the king’s decrees and get away with it.  Through this violation, man was disqualified from representing heaven on Earth and became slaves of a new king and enemy (Satan) who came in to occupy man’s territory.  Ever since then, man has been manufacturing various self-centered attempts to regain his citizenship and re-establish his relationship with heaven in all of their various forms of religion.

But only God through a human could regain man’s lost citizenship in the Kingdom.  Because God’s Word was to “let them (humans) rule,” He locked Himself out of the earth unless He worked through a spirit being in a physical body.  God needed a human to get His will done on earth. So, He humbled himself to become one; thereby circumventing His own law.  Humans were reinstated to their rightful position and then God came to live inside of them in order to link humans back with the Kingdom and know and reproduce His will coming back to earth.

But, because of the damage that they’ve received from the world, the reinstated citizens (Christians) still think like the fallen creatures that they were.  They automatically think and act like slaves of the kingdom of darkness.  They need to go through training to renew their mentality to reflect the truth of what has happened and understand the Kingdom that they are now a part of.  The difficulty with many of them is that they know very little about what it means to be royalty and what God’s Kingdom is like because they do not understand the nature of kingdoms very well.  Our societies have been built on other concepts; thereby making kingdom principles foreign to us. Most of us have grown up in a democracy, which is not how God operates.  Democracies are diametrically opposed to kingdoms.

Therefore, there needs to be a total mental reversal.  Once Christians understand their role as citizens in a Kingdom, they are better able to live in that Kingdom and fulfill their role as ambassadors by governing their territory in such a way as to make it a reflection of the Kingdom.  The restoration of God’s original design of connecting the invisible kingdom with the visible one is dependent on human beings choosing to bring the Kingdom of God back to earth.  Once this happens to every people group and culture on earth, Christ will return.

Gospel of the Kingdom

In the meantime, Satan has strategized to sidetrack us with secondary things rather than focusing on the expansion of the Kingdom.  His goal is to keep us in ignorance of who we are and the fact that his power and authority over believers in Jesus Christ has been broken. We preach a lot about the door to the Kingdom (Jesus) without ever training people to live beyond the door.  This is like owning a mansion and never stepping beyond the door to live inside.

Sons and Kings of God

We face the challenge of living in two kingdoms at once and being careful to give each kingdom its due.  This is why persecution will come.  In those times where the kingdoms of this world demand of Christians what is not theirs, they stand in their identity as citizens of another Kingdom.  As they do this, a military takeover is occurring.  The Kingdom of Heaven is advancing. Whoever allows this Kingdom to take them over becomes part of the army that is taking down the kingdom of darkness.  You can be a part of those that stand up and defend their domain.

  • Moving Resources From Controlled to Stewarded
When it comes to resources, no matter how much one has, people tend to have a spirit of scarcity or abundance. Scarcity says “we need to save for when we need it.” Abundance says “use it today, for tomorrow may never come.” Those with a spirit of scarcity long for safety. Those with a spirit of abundance long for adventure. […]
  • Moving Language From Noun-Centric to Verb-Centric
The eighth organizational tool that can be used mechanically or organically is LANGUAGE. How we understand and use language is important because it shapes the way we behave and believe. How? Words are metaphors. If someone says the word tree, the word itself is not what is being communicated. What is being communicated is the idea of a tree. And although our […]
